About Fairfield Area Home Modification & Maintenance Outreach Service
FAHMOS is a division of Cabramatta Community Centre and is funded by the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care under the Home and Community Care Program. The service is managed by a community-based committee, which is elected annually. Paid staff and sub-contractors carry out the day to day operations of the service.
The aim of the service is to provide a cost effective home modification and maintenance service for frail aged, younger people with a disability and their carers, who live in the Fairfield local government area, to enable and enhance them to continue to live safely and independently in their own home.
The service is available to the frail aged, people with disabilities and their carers who live in a privately owned home and who reside in the Fairfield local government area. Limited services are also available to those who live in rented premises who have written permission from the landlord.
There is a fee for the service, which consists of the cost of materials used and a subsidised rate for labour. Please discuss any concerns regarding payment with the Coordinator at the time of quotation. For clients experiencing financial difficulties, FAHMOS is able to offer an interest free payment scheme over an agreed period of time. Clients are issued with an invoice on completion of the work and may either pay the staff at that time or forward a cheque or money order in the mail. A receipt is issued for all payments.
