Forum: 'Dream or Reality?' - Affordable Housing Western Sydney
Tuesday 17th August
Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, 1 Casula Rd, Casula, (next to Casula Rail Station)
9.00 am for 9.45 start - 2.30pm (TBC)
This forum aims to highlight the gap in housing affordability and availability facing Western Sydney and to develop powerful advocacy to address housing equity in the region.
Come, hear and question housing experts from different sectors highlight the problems, their size, and the degree to which current strategies address these. Participate in one of the workshops (in relation to refugees, migrants, affordable housing or homelessness) to discuss and prioritise strategies.
Keynote speakers include The Hon. Frank Terenzini, Minister for Housing (TBC); Mary Perkins, Shelter NSW; and Michael Darcy and Peter Phibbs, UWS Urban Research Centre. The program will be available shortly.
This forum is an initiative of the Western Sydney Housing Coalition. The Coalition was formed from community organisations and research bodies in order to build partnerships and explore advocacy options to improve availability of affordable, secure and appropriate housing in the region. The forum ‘Dream or Reality?’ is the Coalition’s first initiative. It is being organised collaboratively by the Western Sydney Housing Forum Working Group including Fairfield MRC, Western Sydney Community Forum, Auburn Diversity Services Inc, Affordable Community Housing, Liverpool City Council, UWS Urban Research Centre, Macarthur Housing Coalition and Liverpool MRC.
